Booking & Rental
How do I book a car on GARI?
Search for available cars, select your dates, and send a booking offer to the owner. Once the owner accepts and you complete payment, your booking is confirmed.
What is the "Mol-Tol" (দামাদামি) feature?
Mol-Tol means negotiation! Unlike other platforms, GARI lets you propose your own price for multi-day rentals. Owners can accept, counter-offer, or decline. It mirrors how Indians actually negotiate!
What documents do I need to rent a car?
You need a valid Indian driving license with appropriate vehicle class, Aadhaar card for identity verification, and a payment method (UPI/Card). All verification is done digitally through our app.
Can I extend my rental period?
Yes! Contact the owner through our chat feature at least 24 hours before your trip ends. If the car is available, you can extend and pay the difference.
Payments & Security
Does GARI charge commission?
No! GARI operates on a subscription model. Owners pay ₹899/month and keep 100% of their rental income. Renters pay only a 1% platform fee (capped at ₹500 per booking).
What is the security deposit?
Owners set their own security deposit (typically ₹3,000-₹20,000 depending on the car). This is held safely and auto-refunded within 24-48 hours after a damage-free trip ends.
When does the owner get paid?
Owners receive payment within 24 hours of the trip starting (T+1 settlement). This is faster than any other platform in India!
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept UPI, Credit/Debit Cards, Netbanking, and Wallets through our secure Razorpay integration.
Insurance & Safety
Is insurance included?
All cars on GARI must have valid comprehensive insurance. We verify this during listing approval. For additional protection, we recommend our optional ₹75/day rental insurance.
What happens if I have an accident?
Contact our 24/7 WhatsApp support immediately. Document the scene with photos, file a police report if needed, and we'll guide you through the insurance claim process. Your security deposit may be used for deductibles.
Are the cars verified?
Yes! We verify each car's RC (Registration Certificate) through Vahan database, check insurance validity, and approve listing photos manually. Look for the "Verified Host" badge.
For Car Owners
How do I list my car on GARI?
Sign up, complete your profile verification, then click "List Your Car". Upload photos, documents (RC, Insurance, PUC), set your pricing, and subscribe. We approve listings within 24 hours.
What are the subscription plans?
We offer a simple ₹899/month plan (or ₹8,999/year - save 17%). This includes unlimited listings, 0% commission on rentals, and priority support.
Can I reject a booking request?
Absolutely. You're in full control. You can accept, counter-offer, or decline any booking request. However, maintaining a high response rate helps your visibility.
What if the renter damages my car?
Document with post-trip photos, report through the app, and we'll help mediate. The renter's security deposit covers minor damages. For major incidents, the car's insurance applies.
Northeast India Specific
Do I need permits to drive to Arunachal Pradesh?
Yes, Indian tourists need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal. You can apply online at arunachalilp.com. We provide a guide in our app to help you through the process.
Which states require ILP?
Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram require ILP. Meghalaya does NOT require any permit - perfect for Shillong and Cherrapunji trips!
What cars are best for Northeast roads?
For hill stations and Tawang trips, we recommend SUVs with high ground clearance (Scorpio, Creta, Harrier). For city and highway trips, sedans and hatchbacks work great.
