What is Inner Line Permit?

The Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period.

Important: Traveling to Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, or Mizoram without a valid ILP is illegal and can result in fines or deportation.

How to Apply for ILP Online

Visit the Official Portal

Prepare Required Documents

  • • Government-issued ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport)
  • • Passport-size photo (recent, white background)
  • • Vehicle RC copy (if self-driving)
  • • Hotel booking confirmation (if available)

Fill the Application Form

Enter your personal details, travel dates, and places to visit. For vehicle details, use the RC copy from your GARI rental.

Pay and Submit

Pay ₹100 per person via online payment. You'll receive the ILP via email within 1-2 days.

Print Multiple Copies

Print at least 4-5 copies. You'll need to show them at multiple checkpoints: Bhalukpong, Bomdila, Dirang, and Sela Pass.

💡 Pro Tips for GARI Renters

  • Get RC copy from Owner: When booking through GARI, ask your host for a copy of the vehicle's Registration Certificate. Most hosts are happy to share it for permit applications.
  • Apply 3-4 days in advance: Don't wait until the last minute. Apply at least 3-4 days before your trip to account for any processing delays.
  • Keep digital copies: Save the ILP PDF on your phone. Some checkpoints may accept digital copies in emergencies.
  • Check entry points: The main entry point into Arunachal from Assam is Bhalukpong. Your ILP will be verified here first.
